Rugby clubs’ season ticket sales have been caught up in the closure of one of Britain’s oldest banks, Raphaels which has promptly ceased providing funds to Zebra Finance, the firm allowing football, golf and rugby fans to purchase season tickets and memberships on instalment plans.

Wasps, Bath and London Irish have all advertised Zebra’s services recently with Wasps announcing that fans who have yet to renew their season tickets for next season will be unable to do so using the Zebra option.

Zebra Finance notified Wasps last week that they are unable to accept any new finance applications. These issues are affecting a number of sports clubs who engage Zebra Finance.

All applications that have already been made through Zebra Finance for 2019/20 season memberships remain valid and no action is required.

230 year old lender, Raphaels was unable to find new investors and has been forced to close it’s doors selling on their debt book.

Zebra is thought to lend to over 100,000 sports fans each year who repay the loan and interest over 10 monthly instalments. The exposure in rugby union and league has not been published.
