Gus Mackay has stepped down from his position of managing director at Worcester Warriors this week.

The former Zimbabwe international cricketer joined Warriors in June 2017 following the departure of Jim O’Toole as chief executive.

But Mackay has now moved on just two months after a consortium led by Jed McCrory completed a takeover of the Premiership outfit.

In a statement from the club, Mackay said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved with the club for all their hard work, in particular the staff, board members, sponsors, and supporters for their support during this period of change.

“I wish the new owners, Alan Solomons, and all the players all the very best for the rest of the season.

“I am confident that with the new owners and current group of players the club will grow from strength-to-strength and build on the positive start to the season in all competitions.”

Mackay was given the job having had 15 years of experience working in rugby and cricket.

From 2011 he was chief executive officer at rugby league side London Broncos, who were previously known as Harlequins, before leaving in 2014.
