RLIF Granted Observer Status At GAISF

The umbrella organisation supporting sports governing bodies, the Global Assembly of International Sports Federations GAISF has recognised the RLIF as the governing body of rugby league. The RLIF was been granted “observer status” by the GAISF last week after drawn-out and inexplicable delays to formal recognition.

GAISF promotes its members, as well as providing expertise in areas such as anti-doping, integrity and social responsibility.

RLIF’s application letter to GAISF president, Patrick Baumann submitted that the RLIF was the sole world governing body of the sport founded in 1927, with the copyright to the rules of rugby league; the trademark on the men’s and women’s Rugby League World Cups; and 71 national federations as members.
