Specialist events and hospitality teams from football and rugby stadia across the UK and Ireland celebrated their ‘off the pitch’ successes at The Stadium Events & Hospitality Awards 2018 last week.

Newcastle Falcons were praised by winning gold in the Matchday Hospitality Award (in the category for less than 1,000 covers) as well as coming second over all scales of operation. Worcester Warriors won the inaugural Visiting Director’s Award where all Premiership Rugby directors vote for the away venue where they are best treated. London Irish came second; Leicester and Gloucester were joint third.

Darren Beck and Helen Scott at Newcastle Falcons said in a joint statement:

“We are obviously delighted with these awards. The club has put so much work behind the scenes & now the club has had its best season in 20 years, so we are very much on the up – a club on the rise. Huge thanks in particular must go to Semore Kurdi, Falcons chairman and Sharon Howey (head of commercial), whose commitment to improving the club has been fantastic.”

The event, sponsored by Heineken was at the Amex Stadium, home to Brighton & Hove Albion FC, was the 14th annual awards organised by Stadium Experience, and recognise the efforts and dedication shown by the catering, conference and events teams at every football and rugby stadium across the UK and Ireland.
