    New Zealand Rugby (NZR) has announced a record profit of NZ$33.4 million (£17.7m or €20m) for the 2017 financial year off the back of a highly successful DHL New Zealand Lions Series and other commercial growth. The financial windfall from the British & Irish Lions 10-match tour in June and July 2017 was the driving force behind record revenue of NZ$257m (£136m) compared to NZ$162m the previous year.     Former England captain John Spencer has been appointed tour manager for the British and Irish Lions tour of New Zealand in 2017.
